Why sleep slips away

Late caffeine, late screens, late dinners, and a nervous system that never quite exhales — modern sleeplessness is rarely one cause. It is a dozen small intrusions stacking up against a body that was built to rest with the dark.

Repairing the rhythm

Morning sunlight within an hour of waking. Last caffeine before noon. A light dinner three hours before bed. Screens dimmed and put away after sunset. Warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg, or a calming herbal tea, can become a gentle anchor.

The unhurried wind-down

Stretch. Read something on paper. Lower the lights. Let the mind know it is safe to soften. Sleep is not a switch — it is a slow descent the body remembers, once we stop interrupting it.
